Repair
Middletown, RI – October 29, 2007 -- IlluminOss Medical Inc., an early stage
medical device company dedicated to the development of minimally invasive
orthopedic systems, today announced that Robert A. Rabiner, President and CEO
has been named the Rhode Island “Innovator of the Year” by the Providence
Business News and The Rhode Island Economic Corporation.
The award recognizes proven entrepreneurs and organizations that are leading the
innovation charge by developing unique concepts, product solutions and have
demonstrated an exceptional forward thinking approach. A diverse group of
nominees were judged by a select committee of independent experts from private
industry, government and academic communities.
“On behalf of IlluminOss Medical and its employees, I am extremely proud to have
received this acknowledgement from these prestigious groups in the Rhode Island
business and entrepreneurial community. This comes at a very opportune time as
we aggressively move forward with the development of our technology and the
growth of our company,” said Bob Rabiner. “We are honored to be recognized for
what we believe is a very innovative approach to serving patients’ needs that we
believe will provide an extremely important and viable treatment option for
physicians who treat bone fractures of the hand, wrist and forearm clavicle.”
The patent pending IlluminOss Medical Bone Stabilization System is designed to
stabilize bone fractures from the inside utilizing a photodynamic polymer system
intended to eliminate the need for traditional methods of bone fixation with
external pins, plates and screws. The goal is to improve patient outcomes,
reduce scarring and allow patients to get back to their normal activities and
lifestyles by speeding recovery after the bone has been surgically repaired.
“The recognition of IlluminOss Medical as Rhode Island Innovator of the Year
further validates the tremendous potential of this revolutionary technology,”
said David J. Dykeman, a patent attorney and Shareholder of Greenberg Traurig.
“With innovation as its cornerstone, coupled with its drive and dedication to
developing new technologies that advance the quality of patient care, IlluminOss
is positioned for a very bright future.”
